Jumpstart
Sometime in November 2016, I stumbled upon the Candle Making workshop on Groupon for $60.00.
As I checked the details, I decided that I can learn it myself instead. I cleaned up all my existing paraffin candle jars and decided to purchase ingredients from a local shop.
That did not go well as I ended with sinkholes, wicks were not appropriate for the appropriate jar and so on.
After studying the art of candle making online, I finally cracked it. An so my journey began. I made my first batch of candles and stockpiled in my display cabinet and faced the daunting question. Who will buy my candles??
Until one day, I invited my friend Priscilla to our house with her friend Sonia to discuss about self managed super funds and how to set it up. At the end of the discussion, we talked about our passion and Priscilla asked me about the candles Ive made. My candles made its first debut to Priscilla and Sonia. As pictured.
Alas, all the stockpile sold instantly. Sonia took them all. I didnt realise that all you need is one person to give you that jumpstart and the next thing you are a hundred miles from that crucial start.
Since November 2016, I have melted approximately 40 kilos of soy wax servicing my six degrees of separation family and friends. This was sufficient to keep my weekends busy and kept in regular contact with my beautiful friends.
